:: Promoting knowledge on the social determinants of child and adolescent health and measures to address them
An effective means of investing in child and adolescent health is to promote knowledge of the relevance of social determinants on their health. In keeping with the European Strategy for Child and Adolescent Health, knowledge should be developed and shared on conceptual frameworks and operational tools to:
- - Safeguard children’s rights
- - Reduce health inequities.
- - Improve health literacy
- - Increase health management capacities
- - Promote and enable healthy lifestyles
This area of activity addresses wide determinants and equity issues dealt with by the WHO Child and Adolescent Health and Development Programme of Copenhagen and the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development of Venice. It provides know-how for intersectoral policy-makers, health system administrators, and healthcare providers in support of the implementation of WHO's European Strategy for Child and Adolescent Health.
