:: Training on promoting the health of children and adolescents through action on social determinants.
Evolution in the WHO European Region demands that policy-makers, health-system administrators and healthcare providers have access to the latest information on creating the conditions for good child and adolescent health. In addition, there is a need to scale up the awareness of means to go beyond targeting individual risk factors and address the upstream [social] causes behind ill-health and health inequities among children and adolescents. This area are includes such training activities as:
- Strategy Training to promote the health of children and adolescents through action on the social determinants;
- Thematic training programmes, to address the social determinants of priority child and adolescent health concerns;
- Training modules to improve capacity-building/training methods for promoting the health of children and adolescents through action on the social determinants.
Most of these activities are carried out in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe and in particular with the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health of Rome, with the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development of Venice and with the WHO Child and Adolescent Health and Development Programme of Copenhagen. The services provided by the Collaborating Centre are related both to general and organizational support and technical contribution.
