Could you please describe to us your actual working position and how you became involved in the WHO/HBSC Forum 2007 process?
I am a paediatrician and responsible for youngsters’ appointment and projects regarding health promotion and community participation of adolescents. The Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of the Government of Spain has selected our experience of health promotion and community participation of adolescents to participate in the Forum 2007 WHO / HBSC.

Can you please describe the case study drafting process, since November 2006 until present?
- In December 2006, it was proposed to the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of Spain to present a case study summary of our experience of health promotion and community participation of adolescents. The Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs accepted the proposal.
- In January 2007, a summary of 1-2 pages describing the case study proposed was presented at the Forum.
- In February 2007, the Task Force notified us that we had been selected for the final phase of case studies of the Forum 2007.
- In March 2007 draft of the case study was presented at the meeting in the Canary Islands, together with a video made by young people of our project for community participation  of adolescents.
- In July 2007 the final case study was presented.
- In October 2007, at the meeting in Viareggio, we participated in a round table, planned a new version of the video made by the young people and presented a statement developed specifically for the Forum by 70 young people in a collective process that lasted for months.

What were the steps for identifying co-authors?

There were no co-authors involved in this case study.

Did you hold meetings to jointly define the content of the study?

Monthly meetings on the project for community participation of teenagers were held to design and plan the case study, as well as to allow a direct participation of youth in the Forum (this culminated in the development of the video and statement).

Did you participate in the case study review meeting in the Canary Islands, and how did it influence the evolution of the study?

Yes. The transmission of the meeting occurred in the Canary Islands to the youth involved in the project for community participation of adolescents led to them developing in a collective way the statement to present at the Forum.

Was the study peer reviewed at a national level?

The Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of Spain reviewed and approved it.

Was the case study content presented at any national meeting /event either before or after the Forum?

In May 2008, the case study content was presented at the Symposium "25 years of the HBSC Study: Contributions and challenges for the future” (25 años del Estudio HBSC: Aportaciones y retos para el future) in Seville, Spain.

Did being involved in the case study drafting process benefit your work? If so, how?

1) It has strengthened our priority lines of work: resilience, empowerment for young people's health, community participation and focus on young people with adverse conditions to reduce health inequalities.
2) It has allowed to disseminate our experience.

Did you participate in the WHO HBSC Forum 2007 event in Viareggio? In general, how relevant/useful would you consider the event?

I found it very relevant to exchange lessons learned in the distinct case studies.
